一、词汇精讲
1．take up占据(空间)；占用(时间)
课文：The lake is very big—it takes_up three quarters of the area.湖很大，占了四分之三的面积。
拓展：take的相关搭配：
take off起飞；脱下take down记下
take part in参加take care of照顾，照料
take it easy别紧张take place发生；举行
take after(外貌或行为)像(父或母)

2．lie vi. 位于，坐落于
课文：It lies on the two sides of the Lijiang River.
它(桂林)位于漓江两岸。
扩展：lie 还有“躺，平放的意思”其过去分词是lain，现在分词是lying。
to lie on your back/side/front仰/侧/俯卧
lie 用作动词还有“撒谎”的意思，过去式和过去分词都是lied，现在分词是lying；用作名词“谎言”。
lie through sb.'s teeth满口谎言；弥天大谎
a barefaced lie 厚颜无耻的谎话
She always lies about her age.
她总是谎报自己的年龄。
You can trust him because he never tells lies.
你可以信任他，因为他从不说谎。
用lie的适当形式填空

3．raise vt. 举起，提起
课文：Many tourists like to gather there early in the morning to watch the raising of the national flag.

用raise和rise的适当形式填空

4．regret vt. & vi. 后悔；遗憾
课文：I regret having bought a robot like this.
我后悔买了这样一个机器人。
拓展：regret doing sth.很遗憾/后悔做了……(事情已经做过了) regret to do sth.很遗憾/后悔做……(事情还没有做)
I regret to tell you that I can't spend the weekend with you.
很遗憾地告诉你，我不能和你一起过周末了。
I don't regret telling her what I thought.
我不后悔告诉她我的想法。
注意：类似的用法还有remember和forget，如下：remember to do sth.记得要做某事
remember doing sth.记得做过某事
forget to do sth.忘记要做某事
forget doing sth.忘记做过某事
①很遗憾地告诉你，你考试没有通过。
